ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Shortcoating

Hey there, kiddo! So you know how sometimes when you paint a picture, you want to make it really bright and pretty, but it takes a long time to fill everything in? Well, shortcoating is kind of like a shortcut for painting!

Okay, let me explain more. When people want to paint a surface, like a wall, they usually have to put on two or more coats of paint to cover it completely. But with shortcoating, they can just put on one really thick coat of paint instead of multiple thin coats. This helps save time and can make the surface look even smoother and nicer, because there are no brush strokes from multiple coats.

However, there are some downsides to shortcoating. With a really thick coat of paint, there's a chance it might not dry evenly or that it could crack or peel over time. Plus, if you accidentally miss a spot while you're painting, it'll be really noticeable since there's only one coat.

Overall, shortcoating is a way to make painting a little faster and easier, but it might not be the best choice for every situation. Hope that helps!
