Shotgun messenger

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a movie where someone is riding a horse and they have a shiny shotgun in their hands? That's what a shotgun messenger is! But instead of being in a movie, they were real people a long time ago who rode horses and delivered important messages or items to people who were far away. They had to be really brave because they had to ride through dangerous areas and protect themselves and the message or item they were delivering. The shotgun they had was used to scare away bad guys who might try to steal or hurt them. So, a shotgun messenger was kind of like a superhero on horseback!
