Simele massacre
Okay kiddo, so a long time ago in a place called Iraq, there were some people called Assyrians who lived there. They had been there for a really long time, a lot longer than most people can remember.
But one day, some other people who didn't like the Assyrians decided to do something really mean to them. They went into their towns and villages and hurt a lot of people. They did bad things like killing them and even burning down their houses.
This really hurt the Assyrians and made them very sad. They had to leave their homes and go to other places to be safe. It was a really sad time for the Assyrians and they still remember it today. This event is called the Simele Massacre.
