Simon Stevin was a Dutch scientist and mathematician who lived from 1548 - 1620. He is best known for his work in the areas of mathematics, physics, engineering, and astronomy. He was important in the development of modern science and technology. Some of his best known works are the Law of Buoyancy and the Decimal System. He also made inventions like a treadwheel crane and a way of measuring the height of a building using a pendulum. Simon Stevin helped to build the modern world by showing us ways to measure, calculate and build things.
