Sj-sound

Hey kiddo! Let's talk about the "sj-sound." It's a sound that we make when we say some words that have the letters "s" and "j" close together in them.

Do you know how we make the "s" sound? We push air out of our mouth and make a hissing noise. And the "j" sound is like the beginning of saying the word "jump" - we use our voice and kind of make a "g" sound with our throat.

Now, when we say words like "measure" or "pleasure," we have to make both the "s" and the "j" sounds in a row. But we can't separate them into two separate sounds! That's where the "sj-sound" comes in.

To make the "sj-sound," we have to make the "s" and the "j" sounds at the SAME TIME. It's like a little magic trick our mouth does!

So, when you hear someone say a word like "measure," listen closely and see if you can hear the "sj-sound"! It might sound like a little "sh" sound or a soft "ch" sound.

Pretty cool, right? Keep practicing and you'll be making the "sj-sound" like a pro in no time!
