Slavery in the Sultanate of Sulu

Slavery in the Sultanate of Sulu was when some people were treated very badly and made to work for other people without being paid or having any say in what they did. It was like being a prisoner but for a very long time or even forever.

The Sultanate of Sulu was a place that had a leader called a sultan and he had lots of power. He could say who was a slave and who wasn’t. In the olden days, some people were made slaves because they had been captured in war or were born to parents who were slaves.

Being a slave meant you had to do whatever the person who owned you told you to do. They could make you work from morning until night and you wouldn't have much food, nice clothes, or a cozy place to sleep. They could also hurt you and you wouldn't be able to complain or ask for help.

Slavery was not a good thing, and people fought against it for a long time in different parts of the world, including the Sultanate of Sulu. Today, slavery is illegal everywhere, and everyone has the right to be free and not be forced to do things without their consent.
