ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sleep diary

Okay kiddo, a sleep diary is like a special notebook where you write down things about your sleep. Every night before you go to bed, you can write down what time you are going to bed, what time you wake up, and how long you think you slept. You can also write down any dreams you had or anything that might have disturbed your sleep, like a loud noise or feeling too hot or cold.

When you keep this diary every night, you can look back at it and see patterns. Maybe you notice that you always feel more tired on the nights you go to bed really late, or that you feel more rested when you wake up without an alarm. You can use this information to try and make changes to your sleep routine so that you can feel more rested and energized during the day.

It's kinda like keeping track of what foods you eat and how they make you feel. Just like how eating healthy food can make you feel good, getting enough restful sleep can help you feel good too!
