ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Slide viewer

A slide viewer is like a little machine that helps you look at pictures that are on little pieces of plastic called slides. Think of slides as tiny photos that you can hold in your hand.

The slide viewer has a little light inside that shines through the slide so you can see the picture on it. You put the slide in the viewer and look through a little window to see the picture.

It's kind of like looking through binoculars or a telescope, but instead of looking at faraway things, you get to look at pictures of things like your family, pets, or places you have been to. It's really cool because the pictures are bigger and clearer than if you were just looking at them on your phone or computer.

People used to use slide viewers a lot in the past because they didn't have digital cameras or smartphones to take pictures with. But now, they are more like a fun way to look at old pictures and remember good times.
