Slope

Picture a ramp at a playground. If you walk up the ramp, it gets higher and higher as you move forward. The slope is how steep the ramp is, and it tells you how quickly the height of the ramp is changing as you move along it. If the ramp is not very steep, the height will increase gradually. But if the ramp is very steep, the height will increase more quickly. The slope is a way of measuring how quickly the height changes. In math, we use this concept of slope to describe the steepness of lines on graphs. So if the line goes up quickly, we say it has a steep slope. And if the line goes up slowly, we say it has a gentle slope.
