Slovaks in Czechoslovakia (1960–1990)

Czechoslovakia was like a big family with two main groups - the Czechs and the Slovaks. The Slovaks were like the siblings of the family, but sometimes they felt like they were not getting enough attention or care from the Czechs who were in charge.

During the 1960s to 1990s, the Slovaks were trying to figure out if they wanted to stay in this big family or if they wanted to go their separate ways and become their own family. Some Slovaks were happy being part of the bigger family and felt like they had a good relationship with the Czechs, while others wanted more independence and felt like they were not being treated equally.

There were lots of arguments and discussions between the Czechs and the Slovaks, but they eventually decided to split up and create two different families. In 1993, Czechoslovakia officially became two separate countries - the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Even though they are now separate, the Czechs and Slovaks are still like family and they have a special bond because of their shared history and experiences.
