Slugging

Slugging is a way for people to share car rides when they are going to the same place but don't know each other. It's called slugging because people line up at certain spots called "slug lines" and wait for drivers to come and pick them up.

The idea is that drivers who need to use the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes on highways must have a certain number of passengers in their car. Slugging helps drivers meet this requirement, and in turn, riders get free rides to their destinations.

Drivers usually stop at popular spots like bus stops or train stations and pick up people who are waiting in line. The riders tell the driver where they are going, and the driver will only stop at their desired destination if it's on the way.

Slugging is popular in big cities where traffic is bad, and the cost of parking and gas is high. It's a great way to save money and be environmentally friendly by reducing the number of cars on the road. Plus, it's a fun way to meet new people and potentially make new friends!
