Sneezing powder

Okay kiddo, do you know what happens when you sneeze? Your nose gets tickled and then some air and other particulates shoot out of your nose. Sometimes, people use something called sneezing powder to make someone else sneeze on purpose.

Sneezing powder is usually made of a substance called ammonium carbonate. This substance can be found in things like baking powder too. But when you mix ammonium carbonate with other powders like ground up flowers or plants or even crushed up pepper, it makes a really strong and irritant powder.

When you breathe in this powder, it can make you sneeze a lot! This is because the powder gets into your nose and irritates the sensitive lining in there. Your nose wants to get rid of the powder, so it makes you sneeze as a way to expel it.

People use sneezing powder for silly pranks, but it's not very nice to make someone sneeze against their will. And remember, it's important to be kind to others and not purposely do things that could harm them.
