Social class in New Zealand

Hey kiddo, do you know what social class means? It's kinda like a group of people who have similar amounts of money and power in their society. In New Zealand, there are different social classes too!

New Zealand has a cool thing called a "socio-economic status" or SES. It's like a label that tells us how well-off someone is. It depends on things like how much money they make, what job they have, and how much education they've had.

There are four main social classes in New Zealand. Let's talk about them:

1. Upper Class: These are the people who are very rich and have a lot of power. They usually own big companies or have high up jobs in the government.

2. Middle Class: This is where most people are. They have enough money to live comfortably, and they usually have jobs like doctors, lawyers, or teachers.

3. Working Class: These people usually work in jobs that don't require a lot of education, like builders, chefs, or factory workers.

4. Underclass: This is the smallest group of people, but they have it the hardest. They don't have much money, and they often live in poor areas. Some of them might not have jobs or places to live.

It's important to remember that just because someone is in a certain social class, it doesn't mean they're better or worse than someone else. Everyone is important and deserves respect no matter what their SES is.
