ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Social media and suicide

Social media is a tool that allows people to communicate with each other through computers, phones and other devices. It can be used to share news and ideas, as well as to connect with friends and family. Sadly, people are sometimes exposed to negative experiences on social media, such as bullying, trolling and offensive messages. This experience can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression and sadness, which can lead to thoughts of suicide.

If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, tell a trusted adult (such as parents, teachers or counselors). There are also hotlines and websites available to provide support and resources. It is important to remember that you are not alone and help is available.
