ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Society for Economic Anthropology

Do you know what money is? Money is what people use to exchange things they want or need. Like, if you want a toy, and you have some money, you can go to the store and give the money to the person who works there, and they will give you the toy. That's how people get things they need or want.

But, have you ever wondered why some people have more money than others, even though they might work just as hard or even harder? Or why some countries have more money than others? Well, that's what a special group of people called the Society for Economic Anthropology tries to figure out.

They look at how people around the world trade things and make money. They try to understand how and why some people have more money than others, and how this can affect their lives. They also try to understand how people's culture, traditions, and beliefs influence their economic choices.

So, in a way, the Society for Economic Anthropology is like detectives who try to solve the mystery of how money works in different societies. And, by doing this, they hope to help people around the world to make fairer and more just economic systems.
