Socio-economic decile

Do you know how in school there are different classes based on how well you do in your studies? Similarly, the socio-economic decile is a way to divide people based on how much money their family has and how well they are doing in life. It is like a big classroom but this time the teacher is the government and it is dividing people into ten different groups, based on how rich or poor they are.

The first decile contains the lowest income earners and the tenth decile contains the highest income earners. The decile system helps the government to understand which group of people are struggling the most financially and need more support. It can also help identify the areas that may require more social services like education, health and housing.

Sometimes it may not seem fair to divide people into groups based on money, but it is important for the government to know who needs help the most. By using the socio-economic decile, they can better understand the needs of different groups and take action to improve their situation.
