Sociolinguistics

Sociolinguistics is the study of how language is affected by social factors like where people live, the time period they live in, and the people they talk to. In other words, sociolinguistics is all about how language changes depending on who is using it and when they are using it. For example, if you visit a different country, you might use different words or phrases than you would at home. Similarly, if you talk to a kid or an adult, you may use different language. Sociolinguists study these kinds of changes to better understand how our language is used in different contexts.
