Sod roof

A sod roof is a special kind of roof made out of grass and soil. Imagine a little house, but instead of a roof made of shingles or tiles, it has a roof made of dirt and plants.

To build this kind of roof, first, you need a really strong and sturdy roof structure. This means you need something that can support the weight of the soil and plants on top. Once you have a good roof structure, you add a layer of waterproof material, like plastic or tar paper, to keep the dirt from seeping through the roof.

Then, you'll need to add several layers of soil on top of the waterproof layer. The first layer is usually a coarse gravel or sand, then you add a layer of soil on top of it. Finally, you add a layer of grass or other low-growing plants, like moss or sedums, which are well-suited to growing on a roof.

The grass on top of the roof needs to be carefully maintained, just like a regular lawn. You'll need to water it, fertilize it, and trim it every so often. But once the roof is established, it has many benefits, like keeping your house cool in the summer, insulating it in the winter, and providing a nice area for birds and other wildlife to hang out.

In short, a sod roof is a roof made of dirt and plants, and it's a great way to make your house more eco-friendly and unique.
