ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sod's law

So, let's say you have to go outside to play, but you really don't want to wear a coat because you're hot. You figure, "It's sunny now, so it's probably not going to rain!" This is where Sod's law comes in! Sod's law is when something seems like it will happen one way--like you won't need a coat--but the opposite happens--like it ends up raining! It's like the universe is playing a trick on you. It's not really a law like gravity, but just something that seems to happen a lot in life. So, next time you're planning something and it ends up going wrong, you can say, "Oh well, Sod's law strikes again!"
