Solomon's Pools

Solomon’s Pools are big outdoor swimming pools in Israel that were built a long time ago. They were named after King Solomon, who was a very important king that lived a long time ago.

The pools were made by building big walls made of stones and pouring in water. The water came from a nearby spring and flowed into the pools. This made it possible for people to swim and have fun in the water!

But the pools weren’t just for fun. They were also used to provide water to the city of Jerusalem, which was nearby. The water was carried to the city in big pipes that were made of stone.

Even when there wasn’t a lot of rain and other sources of water were scarce, the people of Jerusalem could rely on the water from Solomon’s Pools. This was very important because water is necessary for drinking, cooking and washing.

Today, people visit the pools to see how cleverly they were built so long ago. They marvel at the engineering skills of the people who made them and how important they were in ancient times. It is also possible to swim in the pools, but it is mostly for sightseeing now.
