ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Spatial–temporal reasoning

Spatial-temporal reasoning is how we think about and understand things that happen in space and time. Let's start with space- this means the area around us like your room, playground, or yard. When you look around, you are using your spatial skills.

Now, let's think about time- this is the period between things happening. Every day, we follow a routine- we wake up, go to school, play with friends, eat dinner, and go to bed. This routine repeats every day, but we know it as today or tomorrow.

Spatial-temporal reasoning combines space and time, just like explaining how you walk to the park. You know the path (space), and you can explain how long it takes you (time). When you play games like puzzles or building blocks, you use spatial-temporal reasoning to figure out where pieces fit, how they fit, and in what order.

Think about a game of chess, you decide which pieces to move, in what order and where to place them. That needs spatial-temporal reasoning! In short, spatial-temporal reasoning is how your brain puts together space and time information to help you understand things better.
