Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius of Loyola

Hey kiddo, you know how sometimes we exercise our body to make it stronger and healthier? Well, Ignatius of Loyola was a man who believed that we also need to exercise our spirit or soul to make it stronger and healthier too. He came up with some exercises that can help us do that.

One of the exercises is called "Examen." It's like a little check-up for our spirit. We take some time at the end of each day to think about what we did and how we felt. We ask ourselves if we were kind, if we helped others, and if we followed what we believe is right. We also think about the things that made us happy and the things that made us sad. This helps us be more aware of what we do and how we feel, and it helps us make better choices in the future.

Another exercise is called "Imaginative Contemplation." This is like a game where we close our eyes and imagine ourselves in a Bible story or in a situation where we can talk to Jesus. We use our imagination to feel like we are really there and talking to Jesus. This exercise helps us feel closer to God and understand Jesus' teachings better.

There are more spiritual exercises, but they all have the same goal: to help us become better people who are closer to God. These exercises are a way to train our spirit just like we train our body.
