Spithead and Nore mutinies

Spithead and Nore mutinies were times when sailors in the British Navy refused to work because they weren't being treated well by the British government. In the Spithead mutiny of 1797, the sailors refused to work on their ships until their wages were increased and the food on the ships was improved. In the Nore mutiny of 1797, the sailors refused to leave the harbor until their grievances were addressed. Both mutinies ended with the sailors getting some of their demands met, although not all of them. In both cases, the mutineers were punished but ultimately allowed to go back to their ships.
