Sponge diving is when people go underwater to find and collect sponges.
First, they put on special clothes called wetsuits that keep them warm and safe while they dive. Then they put on special goggles so they can see better underwater.
Next, they jump into the water and hold their breath! They go down to the bottom of the ocean where there are lots of rocks and caves. They look for sponges on the rocks and use special tools to get them. These tools look like big sticks with hooks on the end. They gently pull the sponges off the rocks and put them into bags.
After they finish collecting sponges, they come back up to the surface and bring the sponges with them. The sponges are rinsed and cleaned, and then sold to makeup companies, spas, or even used in household cleaning products!
But it's important to remember that we need to take care of our oceans and only take the sponges we need. We shouldn't take too many sponges or harm the other creatures living in the ocean.
