Spool knitting is a really fun way to make yarn crafts by using a small tool called a spool or a knitting dolly. The spool is usually round with four or more nails or pegs sticking out of its top. You take a long piece of yarn and loop it around one of the nails or pegs, then twist it around the next one, and so on, until you go all around.
When you get back to the beginning, you start another row by taking the yarn and weaving it around the first row's yarn loops. You keep doing this, weaving around each row until you have a long, skinny cord or tube. This is called a spool knit or a French knitted rope.
You can use this cord to make all sorts of fun things like bracelets, necklaces, headbands, keychains, and even small toys. It's a really great way to be creative and have fun while making cool things out of yarn.
