Squamata

Squamata is a group of animals that includes snakes and lizards. You know how you can move your arms and legs easily because you have skin that's not too rough or too slippery? Well, squamata have skin that's made up of small scales. These scales help them to move freely and quickly through their environment.

Some squamata, like snakes, don't have any legs at all! They crawl along the ground using their scales to grip and pull themselves forward. Lizards, on the other hand, have four legs but they also have scales that help them move easily.

Another thing that's special about squamata is that they have very unique tongues. Their tongues are long and thin, and they can stick them out really far to smell things. Some squamata, like snakes, use their tongue to help them find food. They stick it out and taste the air to find their prey.

Overall, squamata are really cool animals with lots of special features that help them survive in their environment!
