ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Squamish Five

Squamish Five is the name given to a group of five individuals who were part of a militant organization in Canada in the 1980s. This group was considered to be a part of the Anarchist movement, which is a group of people who do not believe in having a government or authorities in charge.

Now, imagine you are in a group of friends who love to play games. One day, five of your friends decide that they do not want to play by the rules of the game anymore and they want to make up their own rules. They also decide that they do not want anyone telling them what to do, even if it is for their own safety. This is similar to what the Squamish Five did, they did not like the rules set by the government, and they wanted to have things done their way.

As a result, the Squamish Five took part in bombings and other violent acts against government and corporate buildings. They believed that this was the only way for them to be heard and for change to happen. However, their actions caused a lot of damage and put people's lives in danger.

Eventually, the Squamish Five were caught and put in prison. They were considered to be terrorists by the government and were punished for their actions. It is important to remember that violence is never the answer and there are peaceful ways to bring about change.
