St. Brendan was a very long time ago, around a thousand years ago. He lived in Ireland and was a very important Christian monk who traveled all across the sea in search of new lands to spread his faith. Legend says that he even made it to America before Christopher Columbus! He and his friends made a very special boat out of animal hides and wood, which they called a "curragh." They would paddle and sail all day and night, fishing for food and resting on little islands they found along the way. St. Brendan was very brave and adventurous, and his stories have inspired people for many years. Some people even think that he was the first person to discover America, but nobody knows for sure. But what we do know is that St. Brendan was a very special person who had faith, courage, and a love for exploring new places.
