ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Stability criterion

Stability criterion is a way of understanding whether something is stable or not. It is like a test to see if something can stay in one place and not change over time. To pass the stability test, a system must not change much over time. For example, if we give a toy car a gentle push and it keeps going in a straight line, it is considered stable because it did not change course. But if the toy car went in circles, it would not pass this test and would be considered unstable.
