ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Standard (warez)

Okay kiddo, let's talk about a thing called 'standard warez'. You know how you like to play games on your computer, right? Well, sometimes people like to share those games with others. But there are rules about how you can share things like games or movies or music, just like there are rules at school or at home. These rules are called 'copyright laws'.

Now, sometimes people don't follow those rules and they share things without permission. And sometimes they share things that are altered or changed in some way. When people share things like this they call it 'warez'.

'Standard warez' means that the things that people are sharing have been changed in some way to make them work differently than they were meant to. This is not a good thing to do because it can actually be against the law. Plus, when things are changed like this, they might not work as well as they should, or they could even harm your computer.

So, just like you have to follow the rules at school and at home, we have to follow the copyright laws when we share things on our computers. It's important to respect the work of the people who made the games or movies or music, and to make sure we're not doing anything illegal or harmful.
