Star-shaped polygon

Okay kiddo, have you ever played connect-the-dots? A star-shaped polygon is kind of like a fancy connect-the-dots picture!

A polygon is a shape made out of straight lines. A star-shaped polygon is a special kind of polygon because it looks like a star! It has a bunch of straight lines that connect points on the edge of the shape to create the star pattern.

If you look at a star-shaped polygon really closely, you might notice that it looks like it has arms or points sticking out from the center. Those are called vertices! A "vertex" is just a fancy name for the point where two lines meet.

So, when you draw a star-shaped polygon, you're really just connecting a bunch of vertices with straight lines to create the cool star pattern you see!
