ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Starlink (satellite constellation)

Starlink is like a bunch of friends holding hands and making a big circle around the Earth. But instead of friends, it's lots and lots of small satellites. These satellites are sent up into space by a company called SpaceX, and they orbit around the Earth like a big ring.

The reason for Starlink is to give people who live in places that are really far away from cities or towns a way to connect to the internet. Sometimes these places don't have good internet, or any internet at all. So, Starlink sends signals to these places from the satellites and people can use those signals to get on the internet.

Think of it like a game of telephone. You know how you whisper something in someone's ear and they whisper it to the next person and so on until everyone hears it? Starlink is like that, but instead of people whispering, it's satellites sending signals.

But Starlink isn't just for people who live in remote places. It's also for people who need really fast internet. Usually, the more people use the internet, the slower it goes. But Starlink can handle lots of people using it at the same time without getting slow.

So, in short, Starlink is a bunch of small satellites orbiting the Earth that provide internet access to people who need it in remote areas or need really fast internet.
