State of nature

The state of nature is a thought experiment created by philosophers to imagine what life would be like without any laws or rules. It is like a pretend world in your imagination where everyone is free to do whatever they want. In this state, human beings would act out of self-interest and be selfish. They would fight and compete with each other for resources, like food and shelter. Without laws, people would also have fewer rights. It would be difficult to know if anyone was telling the truth, and therefore, it would be difficult to trust anyone.
