ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Statistical relational learning

Statistical relational learning is a way of using statistics, or mathematics, to help us better understand the relationships between things. For example, let's say you want to understand how a particular type of beetle feeds. You might look at the amount of food beetles eat, the amount of food they find, and the types of food they eat. All of this data would be collected and then used with statistics to help us better understand how the beetle finds food. With statistical relational learning, we can figure out how different things like the shape of their body, the size of their antennae, and the type of environment they live in all play a role in how they feed.
