Stavelot Triptych

Okay kiddo, so the Stavelot Triptych is a really fancy, old picture that's split into three parts that you can fold up like a book!

The picture is made up of tiny pieces of colorful glass called enamel, which were put together to make pictures of important people and things from a long time ago.

The middle part of the picture shows a nice lady called the Virgin Mary holding a little baby named Jesus. On either side, there are pictures of important guys named Saint Stephen and Saint John the Baptist.

These pictures were made a really, really long time ago back in the 1100s and they were made in a place called Stavelot, which is in a country called Belgium. People used to use the picture to help them pray and feel closer to God.

Now, the Stavelot Triptych is kept safe in a museum so we can all look at it and learn about how people used to make cool artwork a long time ago!
