ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Stephen Alfred Forbes

Stephen Alfred Forbes was a man who studied nature and science a long time ago. He loved learning about plants, animals, and all kinds of living things. He even grew up on a farm where he could see all of these things up close.

One of the things that made Stephen special was that he liked to make connections between different parts of nature. He understood that everything in the world was connected, and he wanted to figure out how those connections worked.

Stephen went to school to learn more about science and became a professor. He taught other people about how to study and understand nature like he did.

One day, Stephen decided to focus on studying the water in ponds and lakes. He wanted to understand how all the little living things in the water interacted with each other.

He did lots of experiments and watched the water closely. He found that everything in the water was connected. If one thing changed, it would affect all the other things in the pond or lake. He called this the "balance of nature."

Stephen wanted other people to know how important this balance was for the world, so he wrote books and gave lectures to spread the word. He believed that if people understood how everything was connected, they would do a better job of protecting the environment.

Stephen's work is still important today, and many people still study and learn from him. He was a smart and curious person who loved nature, and we can all learn from the things he discovered.
