Stigmergy

Stigmergy is a way that animals and people can communicate without actually talking to one another. For instance, if ants leave a scent trail on the ground, they can communicate to other ants that it is time to find food. That's stigmergy. It's like having a secret message that only certain animals or people know how to read.
