Stile

A stile is like a magical door for people and animals to go through fences. You know how there are fences in your yard or on the farm to keep animals in certain areas? Sometimes people need to go from one side of the fence to the other without opening and closing the gate all the time. That's when a stile comes to the rescue! It's usually made of wood or metal and it has steps and a place to walk on top. Imagine a little ladder with a wider part at the top for you and your friends to walk across over the fence. By climbing up the steps and stepping over the top part, you can easily cross the fence without letting the animals escape or hurting yourself. It's like stepping over a little bridge over a river, but instead of water, there's a fence. Stiles are often used in the countryside for walking on footpaths, hiking or farm work. They're a convenient and safe way to cross fences without opening and shutting gates. So, next time you're walking in a field or near a fence, keep an eye out for a stile - it might save you some effort!
