ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Strategic Highway Network

Okay kiddo, have you ever gone on a road trip with your family? Remember how you planned out the route you wanted to take and which highways you needed to get on to reach your destination?

Well, the government also plans out which highways are important for our entire country. They call it the Strategic Highway Network (SHN).

The SHN is a network of highways that are really important to the country's safety and economy. They are the highways that help us move important goods like food, medicine, and fuel around the country. They also help the military move important equipment and troops around in case there is a war or natural disaster.

So it's like a big map that shows which highways are really important for people and things to travel on. The government makes sure these highways are kept in good shape and have enough gas stations, rest stops, and other things people need on a long road trip.
