Stream bed

A stream bed is like the bathtub for a river. Just like your bathtub has a bottom that water flows over, a stream bed is the bottom part of a river where water flows over. If you looked at a river from the top, you would see the stream bed at the bottom. It is made up of rocks, dirt, and sand that are moved by the water as it flows. The stream bed can be smooth in some places where the water flows quickly, and bumpy in others where the water flows slower. Fish and other critters also live in the stream bed and use it to hide from predators. Just like how you need to be careful when walking in the bathtub, people need to be careful when walking in a stream bed because it can be slippery and dangerous.
