Study 329

Study 329 was a research project in 2001 that looked into the effects of medication called Paxil. Paxil is a type of drug called Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors, or SSRIs for short. The study found that Paxil was not very effective for treating depression in teenagers, but that it had some side effects, like increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors. This caused a lot of concern among doctors and parents, who wanted more information about the safety of SSRIs for teens. So, researchers did more studies over the years to learn more about the effects of SSRIs on people of different ages.
