Okay, so imagine you have a really long string of letters like ABCDABCDABCD... and it goes on forever. This is called an infinite word. Now imagine that you can only see a little bit of the word at a time, sort of like looking through a window. Sometimes, when you move the window around, you'll see the same pattern of letters over and over again. That's called a repeating pattern.
But what if you move the window around and you never see the same pattern twice? That's called a Sturmian word. It's a special kind of infinite word where the letters are arranged in a way that makes it impossible to have any repeating patterns.
Sturmian words are cool because they pop up in all kinds of places, like in music and math and computer science. People study them to try to understand more about the patterns that can appear in infinite words. So even though they might seem a little tricky at first, they're actually a really interesting thing to learn about!
