Stylite

A stylite is like a really old saint superstar who lived a really long time ago. These peeps wanted to dedicate their lives to God and show how much they loved Him by doing something super hard and extreme. They decided to live on top of tall columns or pillars, kinda like really high up on a ladder. This meant they were always in a very small spot and weren't allowed to come down until either they died or the people around them begged them to come back down. They were so committed to their belief in God that they didn't care about anything else, even their own comfort. It was really tough because they had to stay up there in all kinds of weather and only received little amounts of food and water from people who admired them. But they believed it was worth it because it was their way of showing how much they loved God.
