ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Subsolvus

Okay, so you know how sometimes you have a really cool toy, but you have to share it with your friends? Well, that toy is like a rock, and the stuff inside the rock is called a mineral.

Now, sometimes that mineral inside the rock has some extra stuff in it that makes it hard to see or separate from the rest of the rock. This is called being "locked up."

When the mineral is "locked up," it's called "subsolus." Think of it like if your toy was stuck in a box that you didn't have the key to open.

But, if you can figure out a way to break open the box and get your toy out, then it's "supersolvus"! This means that the mineral is free to move around and mix with other minerals.

So, subsolvus means that the mineral is all stuck together and supersolvus means that the mineral is free to mix and move around with other minerals.
