ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Substantivism

Substantivism is a way of thinking that emphasizes the importance of concrete things, instead of abstract concepts. It focuses on things, or "substances," like rocks, plants, animals and people, rather than ideas or values. This kind of thinking puts more value in the tangible world instead of the world of ideas. For example, if someone is hungry, a substantivist would say that it is important to eat something real, like an apple or some bread, rather than trying to focus on the abstract idea of "being full."
