Substitutionary atonement

Substitutionary atonement is a way of saying that one person can take the punishment for somebody else's wrong-doing. It's like being a substitute. When somebody does something wrong and they are supposed to be punished, someone else can come and "substitute" for them and take their punishment instead. That's what substitutionary atonement is.
