Have you ever played with a plunger in the bathtub and noticed how it sticks to the bottom? Well, suction cupping is kind of like that but for your skin.
Suction cupping is a way to stick a cup onto your skin using air suction. The cup has a special shape that creates a vacuum when pressed on your skin, so the air inside gets sucked out and the cup sticks tightly. It can be used for different purposes like to relax muscles, relieve pain or improve blood flow.
To use suction cupping, a therapist will first apply oil or lotion to your skin to make it easy to slide the cup around. Then they will press the cup onto your skin and use a pump to suck out the air and create the vacuum. The cup may be left on your skin for a few minutes or moved around to cover different areas. Once you are finished, the therapist will remove the cups and massage the treated area to help you feel more relaxed.
Note: Suction cupping may leave temporary marks on your skin that look like bruises, but they usually disappear within a few days. It's important to speak with your doctor before trying suction cupping if you have any health concerns or if you are taking medication that may interfere with the process.
