Sudden unexplained death in childhood

Sudden unexplained death in childhood (SUDC) is when a child under the age of 18 dies suddenly and unexpectedly, and there is no clear reason for their death. It usually happens at home, in their sleep and there are no warning signs. Doctors cannot figure out why the child died and usually cannot explain it. It is very upsetting for families when it happens because there is no explanation for why it happened.
