Sulfide stress cracking

Sulfide stress cracking is a type of damage that happens when metals are exposed to sulfur or sulfur compounds in water. This happens when the sulfur reacts with the metal and creates cracks in it. It's like when you see an apple that has been left in the sun for too long - it has brown spots and crinkles where the sun's rays have damaged its skin. Sulfide stress cracking does the same thing to metals - it can cause the metal to break and crack in certain places.
