Summary statistics

Summary statistics are a way to quickly and easily describe a group of numbers. They are like a short description, or summary, of a big group of numbers. For example, if you have a list of test scores from a class, the summary statistic might be the average, or the average score all the students got. The summary helps you get a quick understanding of the group of numbers without having to look at every single one.
